E Powered Imitation Ideas
« on: December 03, 2017, 11:49:03 AM »
With so much excitement over Mike Griffin's new Imitation kit, I thought it would be fun to start a thread about using E power for this plane.

Who's building an E powered Imitation?  What are your thoughts on motor/esc/timer/battery combinations?

Prop size/line lengths?

The fuselage design with the firewall looks perfect for a rear mounted motor.  Any advantage to modifying the existing design to utilize a front mounted motor?

As the fellow who did the AutoCAD work to produce the plan and who also will be leaser cutting the kits for Mike Griffin I am happy to tell you that the Imitation will be delivered with the necessary modification to mount electric power. I have even laser marked an outline in the fuselage front to change the fuel tank cut-out to accept a 3300 mAh 4 cell lipo. The ECL mounting plates are predrilled (by laser) to accept the RSM 46 system motor (Black Tiger 3548C) and come complete with the capture bearing box that glues behind the mounting plate. From my conversations with Mike Griffin he is planning on offering the model with the optional RSM 46 System Competition level electric power system (the system comes with prop, motor, ESC, KR Governor flight manager and battery. It is fully assembled, bench tested ready to mount and fly). Please contact Mike Griffin for prices as I understand he will be offering the combination at a discount.
