Title: QUESTION FOR DEAN- BATTERY CHOICE FOR SV-11
Post by: Frank Imbriaco on April 08, 2011, 05:58:41 AM
Hi Dean,
I'm woking on my Brodak SV-11 ARC. ( 60 1/2", 49 1/2", 676sq. , completed weight target 65 ounces) .
I've  already purchased an E-Flight Power 25 -870KV , CC Ice Lite 50 ESC, and APC 12x6, 13x 4.5 Pusher props.
What size  battery- Capacity and C  rating  , 4S or 5S , do you recommend?
Any other advice would be much appreciated !
Thanks,
Frank :-\

I know I'm not Dean, but..............

I have a 690 square inch, 70oz plane with a 930kv motor using a 13x4.5 ePusher set at 9500rpm for a 5.5 secs/lap on 68.5' lines (total) and I use a 4s battery that is 3300mah. I use about 2400mah per flight. (72% used.)
A 4s would be perfect for your plane.
(20 to 25 C-rating would be the one to use.)
Hobbyking sell a Turnigy Nano-Tech 3300, 25c, 4s for about $38 and it only weighs 11.9oz.)

Frank,

I'm not Dean either and have no where near the experience or knowledge but I am building an SV-11 at the moment as well. My motor is/will be the Scorpion 3026-890 swinging a 12 x 6 EP prop, I'll probably give a cut down 13 x 6 a try too. After speaking with Bob Branch quite a bit I decided to use the GensAce 4S 3800 battery in mine. I like the Gens batteries as they are inexpensive, powerful, well built and ship free from HobbyPartz right here in the U.S. I figured out a nice way to install mine in the SV and the 3800 fits great, hope to have some photos up soon.
