Title: Prop adapter
Post by: Alan Resinger on June 18, 2011, 09:54:14 AM
I'm just starting to build my first e-stunter and want to use a Precision Aero 1.75" spinner.  The motor is an e-flite.   The 5mm adapter that comes with the motor has a 1/4 28 threaded shaft that is about 3/8 to 1/2 inch too short to be able to mount an APC e-prop and the AP spinner.  Anyone know of a adapter that would be long enough.  I'm going with the Randy's spinner as I need the weight and like the shape better than an e-flite spinner.

How long is the 5mm adapter you have, or how long would it have to be to work ?

The threaded portion of the prop adapter is only about 3/4" long.  The motor includes the adapter.  It has a small cone shaped nut to secure the prop.  As I said the unit needs to be 3/8" to 1/2" longer.  If you go to Horizon Hobby and look up E-flite motors you can see the assembly.

Bought an AXI motor recently and also an optional prop mount # PH5 that had a longer spinner screw.  I was thinking that might work for you.   But the Aero spinners use the 1/4-28 spinner screw, so that wont work. I dont know of any electric prop mounts that will work with an Aero Spinner.

They will also slot the spinner for a pusher prop.  Aren't Randy's spinners are slotted for tractor props?
