Progress so far on Force

It seems I caught a little flack for converting this plane to electric.
I was very frustrated with making three trips to a flying field only to have the same issues. Sorry if I showed my frustration in my other thread.
This profile was a great flying plane. I just want to go to the field and fly it. And not wanting to spend all flying season trying to figure out why two different IC setups would not run. Don't want to rehash this topic here just sorry if I vented.
So here is where I'm at in the conversion process.

There's always information one can gather from viewing a photo.

Why would someone care if you convert your models to electric?

The big "E" is here to stay and getting more popular.

I have crashed more than my fair share of planes over the years.   Most of the crashes in control line had bad engine runs as contributing causes.  Now that I fly electric I don't crash.   I am still not a great pilot but there is a lot to be said for predictable consistent motor runs.

There is nothing more frustrating than having a willing airframe held back by an unwilling engine.  I am looking forward to your NEW test flights.

Installation looks good and I hope it solves all your problems.   It is frustrating when engines start acting up though.

Ray Firkins has an electrified Primary Force. He let me fly it. WOW! What a delightful model.  Smooth, goes where you point it.  Wonder if he'd sell?  VD~

If you remember correctly, that is how that plane started life was as an electric plane.

Paul, one of the constants of this group, is that if you announce that you're going to do anything definite you'll catch flack for it.  Going 'lectric?  No, you should stick with what works.  Going IC?  Why are you playing with that old stuff?  Going to a V-tail?  Oh man, it'll never work in the wind.  Abandoning V-tails because no one will help you trim?  Coward!  Trike gear?  Ooh -- heavy, and that wheel up front will mess up your inverted flight!  Conventional gear?  Oh boy, your landings will be harder!  Gonna use a Fox 35?  Why would you want to use that old piece of trash!  Gonna change out the Fox 35 for an OS 25LA?  Why are you losing that sterling example of American craftsmanship!

Etc.  Just take comfort in the fact that if you ask for advice, sooner or later someone will tell you to do exactly what you were planning on doing anyway.

(My flying buddy says "no 'lectric -- I just blow those things up")

Good for you, The Force will fly very well with electric.  It would have been nice to figure out why the engine ran so weird, but you have to do what you need to keep on flying.

Thanks Mike. You came up with a winner with this design. 😉. Now the the guy on the handle can do it justice. If I had a felt tip pen I would like your John Henry on the outboard tip! And no need to fuel proof it. 😄

Yes you do. 

Let me quote a fellow Northwest Fireball club member, who shall remain anonymous for obvious reasons.  It was at the 2013 or 2012 NW Regionals, and he was very chagrined: "I just accidentally squirted fuel all over an electric plane in the Expert pits.  My fueling tube just popped off the tank and fuel went all over the thing.  Gawd, I hope it's fuel proof!"

Unless you're never going place your plane next to, or downwind of, or otherwise anywhere in the vicinity of a slimer, your paint job needs to be at least somewhat fuel proof.
