If you rear mount these motors the front bearing is still bigger than most if not all bearing in motors of the same class so you still pick up some benefit. If you don't like the prop adapter that comes with these motors you can reverse the shaft by removing the bell from the motor and loosening the set screws at the top of the bell and gently pressing the shaft through to reverse it. I use an arbor press Some shafts do reverse easier than others. I then tighten the set screws and re-assemble the motor. Now you can use any collet you please.
