Where can one get bearings for a Plettenberg 20-16?  What sizes are they?

Thanks.

What did Boca say when you called them?

They're almost certainly standard sizes, and almost certainly metric.  If you don't want to get them from Boca, measure them, convert the measurements to metric if your calipers aren't enlightened enough, then buy those sizes from McMaster.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Boca's Web site does not include Plettenberg.  I reckon I could call them.  The motor in question is my spare.  It works, but is a little noisy.  I don't want to disassemble it until I have replacement bearings in hand.

You're welcome to take my spare Plettenberg to NATS if you'd like.  Let me know.

Jeez, what kind of motor is that. The original bearings only lasted about 5 years.  Compare that to my Scorpion motors that lasted maybe 100 flights. That doesn't translate into too many weeks.

Howard, I don't know about plettenberg motors as they relate to CL, but this company is a distributer.

My friend Kevin is a Nats competitor for RC pattern,  and highly recommend's their service. You will need to call or email them though.

I tried high quality japan bearings for high load, did not help ... I tried also ceramic without success ... and when I saw balls from them, then I understood, they are so small that they act as a sanding material, not bearing :-P

Of course I have no own experience with this, but it sounds like a lubrication problem rather than bearing type/quality. What do you use as lubricant and does it stay there? L

It is not good idea to dissolve thick lubricant in bearing - everything what goes in, will also go out. So short nswer for me is "nothing" :- ))

I sent them a note, but it looks like they only have the 30 series.  Thanks.

Howard,
I've bought bearings from Boca they were close but not exact, especially the large one. I would contact Plettenberg
directly and get the bearings from them. If you're not in a hurry U can get them in 2 weeks. as far as lubricant goes
I would use it on the small ones. little to none on the big one.
Later,
Evolve or get left behind!

Why don't you contact the distributor?
