Guys,
Is anyone running a phoenix 35 on 5s? The instructions say it will do 5s without the BEC. The timer shouldnt be enough load to cause a problem should it? My setup will be the following:
Scorpion 3026 710
Flightmax 5s 3000
APC 13 x 6.5 ep
Will Hubin FM-2a
I was going to use my Ice 50 on my new model, but its just too big physically to fit in the front end. I should have got the lite model. I already have the Phoenix 35 and I'm trying to save from buying another esc...
Thanks for any advice.

Jason,
My guess is that it will be fine. The timer barely pulls any current, so I doubt that it can overheat the BEC.

Thanks Alan! That's kind of what I was thinking.

Yeah! Like Alan said ...
just heckling and looking for an excuse to say Merry Christmas,

Lol, thanks Dean! Merry Christmas to you to!!

Jason,
Just take the heat sink off your ICE 50 and you have a "lite"!!! If a 35 is enough to handle your load, the 50 sans heat sink should be fine too and you get the data logging.

John,
I thought about that, but I didnt really see an easy way to remove the heat sink and was affraid of damaging the esc. I'll look at it again and see if I can get a better idea as to how it is put together.
I'm really having trouble getting everything stuffed into the front end of this new airplane. I thought a big airplane would be easier to configure, but I guess when the parts going into the airplane scale up in size with the airplane then it doesnt get any easier... I'll try to post some pictures of what i'm working on tomorrow.
Thanks,
Jason

May be interesting to contact CC and talk to them about using their ESCs in c/l. They have been very response in the past for the heli guys. I've talked to them several times. They could certainly answer questions like 5S and heat sinks but also may have some ideas about c/l flying.

Jason,
If you peel the two strips of tape (black with info printed on it) off the plastic ends, the heat sink will slip right off. You might want to wrap the ESC in tape (packing??) or a heat shrink tube to protect it. Probably voids your warranty though!
