Post by: bob branch on June 01, 2010, 05:44:35 AM
This is an Olympic Mk VI I have just finished. Power is electric with Turnigy 3542 at 1000 kv, 4s lipo, castle creations ice 50 esc, hubin fm9 flight manager timer system and apc electric prop. Finish is white ultracote, red monocote applied with the Windex method, and 3M auto pin stripping tapes in black, red, and gold. Weight with motor and no batteries is 44 oz. With packs 54 to 56 oz.

I'm prejudiced, but I think Oly's look best in white.  Absoluely love that simple linear trim scheme. Combined with the power system  - this is a  WINNER.  I think Bob just ratcheted up the competitiveness in Classic.

Thank you guys.

Bill

I plan on testing with both turnigy 30C 3000 mah 4s and Rhino 3700 mah 25C 4S packs. I initially planned on the turnigy but the testing I did with the 3000 mah flightmax packs last fall in the T-Rex in both 4s, 5s and in the strega (2X3S 2650mah packs) were so disappointing that I ordered a set of the Rhinos that Rick Sawicki is now starting his 3rd year with no fall off observed. My guess is I will wind up with the Rhinos. That turns out to be what I am flying the T-Rex with (4s) and am consuming about 2200 mah with a apc 12X6EP prop turning 9000 rpm on 63 ft lines and getting a 5.2 sec lap. I have not posted final setup yet until I am happy that I have what I want. But I got a few good practice sessions in last weekend and after settling on the 63 ft line length believe I have what I want. I still want another session or two before I claim it as the setup though. But the battery issue on the T-Rex is now to bed.  n~
