PROPS ARE SHIPPING NOW
Last year we got APC to tool up for the 13x4.5 and a lots of pepole are happily using them. However APC does not offer anything in the 10" to 11" range - the size preferred by flyers of normal 35-40 size airplanes - including me! The gap is now filled.
Archie & I have contracted APC to make a special run of 200 11x4.5 electric pusher props. The props are based on the "normal" 11x5.5 only reversed (LH rotation) and de-pitched to 4.5. Note that it is not too big a stretch to clip the prop to 10" for an electric Ares or Argus or other "low rider" of that era. Should be great for any electric Fox 35 replacements in an OTS too.
APC says they have shipped them. Eventually these props will show up on their website, for $4.75. However I am hoping you will take some off my hands before that - and help me recoup my investment!
* The 11x4.5P will sell for $4.75 each, and I will ship them for $5 per order for USPS Priority shipping to the lower 48. International shipping will be at cost of the best deal I can get at the post office.
* Please email or PM me with your order and YOUR shipping addy. I will accept check, money order or PayPal. I really prefer PayPal for International orders.
Better order soon, there's only 200 88 75 55 40 left!

Hi Dennis,
I have sent you an email about the props
Lionel.

Hi Dennis,
Sent you a PM. Thanks for your efforts in bringing this propeller to market.

Hi Dennis,
I sent a question and an order to your email address.Thanx,Jeff

Hi Dennis
can you put me down for a dozen to be shipped to the UK
thanking you Pete

THANKS for the great response H^^ 010! Got a small delay tho...
The props left APC last Thursday, made it as far as Reno - and there they sit, presumably awaiting the next FedEx Ground truck going east. Delivery could be as late as this Friday. I am away from home during the week so (assuming they get here by Friday) so I hope to start shipping by Monday 9-August.

Hi Bob,
Where did you get an 11 x 4.5 standard prop? I don't see this on the APC list. Is it another make, or did you tweak the 11 x 5.5? Thanks.

O.K. I looked again, and Dennis did say that they used the 11x5.5 and de-pitched it. Just by the way guy's, what is wrong with the 11x5.5? Is this too much pitch or what? I find that it is a magic prop mostly. I suppose that for some motors, the higher revs of the lower pitch will get into a better zone and the governor will maybe work better. This gets back to the high/low pitch debate.
I see above that Lionel Smith has ordered some from Dennis, so I'll get some feedback from him. I fly my 40 size models up where I live at 5000 to 6000 ft. ASL, and Lionel is flying at sea level and finding the 5.5 pitch too fast on the E-Max 2820 (same as Arrowind 2820). The 5.5 pitch works for me at high altitude. Interesting stuff!

Keith:
These are PUSHER props not previously available. I have developed a preference for 4.5 pitch, so repeated that here. The prop is pased on the "normal 11x5.5 that you (and I!) like so much, only it is REVERSED then flattened out to a 4.5 pitch.
I plan on running it about 9,800 -10,200 RPM depending on the bird and the line length.

Thanx Dennis!!!!!Got my props today. Can't figure out how to attach the bouncing happy face to this reply or I would.Thanx again for the 5 star customer service!!!!!!Jeff Traxler 24950

Dennis,
Andy and Larry may have been the first to put up flights with the new 11x4.5 pusher props but now I am also reporting in!! LOL I mounted one on my SII 3014 1040 KV Scorpion powered Electric Lite Ringmaster and put up a flight this morning. I replaced a 12x6 APC pusher cut down to 10x6 and think I will like it. I had to boost the RPM with the 11x4.5 and I didn't quite get it high enough so future flights will tell the tail.

I simply ordered mine from APC, but if I understand you right when the current supply is sold out there will not be anymore. If that is the case let me know and I will order additional props from you this time. I do like this prop, and it is useful on a RimFire .10. With a Hubin timer it spun up to 9400 at launch time and 9900 at the initial spin up, and performed well in the air. I may trim my back to 10 x 4.5 for use on the RimFire .10 but then again I can't come up with a good reason why.....

Andy:
Just the opposite is true. To get APC to make the 11x4.5 pusher in the first place required an order of 200 props - which I did. Once they make these 200 then they stock them as a regular production item. Obviously with my sunk cost my goal is to sell my 200 (minus what I keep for myself) first! The countdown shows how many more I have to sell, and is a shameless attempt to get some URGENCY into my "customer base"!
Last fall I did this with the 13x4.5P and that prop is now listed on the APC website. To my surprise they quickly listed the 11x4.5P, you are living proof that they are already selling them. THATS GREAT for the ECL fraternity! However, (at the risk of sounding selfish) I hoped they might hold off listing them for a little while until I sold off my prototype order.
I think trimming the prop diameter can help the turning radius of the airplane. I would think a 10" prop would be near perfect for the S-350. The Rimfire 10 would be happy with just a little less prop too...
-
Dennis; If you would, bring two 11X4.5P props to the Michigan meet next Sunday.

Dennis,
These props are working very well for me. I got in a dozen flights this weekend, and the combo settled in to 5.4 second laps on 64 foot lines on my Vector. The motor is a Turnigy 3548 1100 kV turning 11180 RPM. On my 4S pack this is about 85% throttle, and the governor thinks it is fat city. The Vector just cruises no matter what part of the hemisphere or what the attitude is -- it's really a remarkable transformation. The efficiency seems pretty good, it's using just over 2000Ah in a 5min 55 sec run. If I can manage not to throw the planet at it, I think a few more points will be coming my this weekend, it's really fun to fly. Will's FM-9 was a great help in getting the set up determined in just a few flights.
So thanks once again for getting these remarkable props made up. You've done a real service to electric stunt.

John
THANKS for the write-up Ontly thing, your RPM is about 1000 rpm faster than I expected - did you mean 10,180 RPM???
-
Dennis, Sent you a PM I'll have 6 thanks!
-
11180 RPM is correct. That's what's set into the timer, not measured with a tach, but the CC ICE graph shows that to be what it sees as well.

Dennis; Attempt was made to send you a PM for two props. Don't know if it worked.
Anyway, need instructions to send $$$ via Pay Pal.
Dave

Dennis I'll take four. Will send check.

An update. I flew in the Dick Scobee Memorial contest at Auburn this weekend past. I scraped the nose off the Vector on the outside squares in Friday afternoon practice. Not being sure I could reassemble the shreds, I picked the Panther off the wall and changed out the timer, motor and prop to the same setup as the Vector and set up all the times and RPMs the same. The Panther is a bit smaller than the Vector, so I thought it would be OK. I had not flown the Panther since last fall. Then got to work on the Vector and managed to get it together as well, so flew the Panther in Classic on Saturday, Vector in PA on Sunday. Vector looks like Frankenstein -- no time for paint, but still got 12 appearance points!
The point of this is: same lap times and same uniformity of power in both planes (even tho the Vector flies much better as a PA ship). With the time pressure, I don't think I could have gotten such consistent performance without the FM-9 timer and the pusher props. The Panther was the best it's ever been in the overhead tricks.
I was still dead last in Classic, but with a personal best score for the Panther.
I really like this prop.

There were two notable things about John's low bottom: 1) to my disappointment, the battery didn't explode or spew fire, and 2) John fixed the airplane so rapidly. On a nonelectric airplane, he would have had to degrease it, fix it, and fuel proof it, which would have taken much longer.

No Kaboom ??? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering Kaboom! n~

It was sort of a scrapy, thumpy thing followed by a series of bumpities as the nose with the motor in it chased the battery across the pavement.
Really, I was just fine until the tail touched and tucked the nose in. The appearance points were for the parts aft of the leading edge.
The repair was just the reverse disassembly, with glue added. Howard's right about not having to deal with fuel residue and paint. The front of the nose was too shredded to reassemble, so it got a scrap piece of block glued in placed. The battery was pretty battered on both ends, so is being discarded. I don't want it around, too much potential fire hazard.
