I got a few new soldering irons to try. I did a short little unboxing / trial video on the DC powered Sequre D60-B. It's got an xt60 connector so you can plug in your lipo pack and do some field repairs, or plug it into a power source. There's also AC powered versions if you don't want to fiddle with the DC adapters. The one in the video is only $29. Products can be found here (fastest shipping, great company from California) https://pyrodrone.com/pages/search-results-page?q=Sequre
Sequre put it on their blogspot.

That's cool. A true temperature controlled soldering iron for a good price. Of course the tips are expensive.

There are lots of battery powered tools that are small and fit in your tool box easily.
I also have a battery powered soldering iron and a nice battery powered glue gun. All powered by a 3 cell Li-po battery. The glue gun is about 6 dollars and the soldering iron is about 9 dollars. It pays to have the tools to fix anything when your at the field.

Dennis, that Li-po powered hot glue gun is amazing. I love mine. And you're right, we always have the batteries around anyway!
Here's the more powerful iron, if anyone is following along. I'll try and get a couple more battery powered ones for comparison videos. This is a bad mama jamma. 500c temp!
110w iron for about $34

NICE TIP, NO PUN INTENDED, ANY IDEA ON HOW MUCH CURRENT IT DRAWS?

From my understanding, it's approx 1a from the receptacle. I didn't do an actual current test, and that 1a figure would be at full temp, probably while heating from cold. But I still haven't tried 500 degrees Celsius with it. I don't do anything that large

Thanks for the information Dane and Dennis. I'm going to check them out.

What is everyone using on 12 gauge wire and Deans Plugs?

I use a Weller 8200 but its the old style. I don't like the newer ones.

I guess keeping along with my own thread here.... here's the least expensive option from Sequre. I like it. It's super cheap and exceptionally easy to use, while still being thermostatically controlled. 3 temp settings, 30 seconds or less heat up
