Looks like "Smilin' Will" has a lot to smile about - way to go.
Oh yeah, also a way to go to the "build coach" Jose!

Looking good Will. Is it to late for it to make Brodak's?
Will or Jose, what do the composite airframes finish out at w/o the power system? Do they vary much (besides paint/finish weight)?

Hi all,
First I have to thank Jose. He is a great building coach and very generous with his time and shop and tools. I learned alot about an alternate way of constructing a stunt ship. The construction was definitely a new experience for me. The fuse is literally a like a hollow tube. When you look in the front you can see out the back and it has no flex at all!!!!!
I also owe Sina a big thank you too. He came up with the as yet unfinished paint scheme. He was also a great help in the shop and encouraged me to go on when i got frustrated with it at times!!!!!
I believe it weighs about 40oz without electrics and paint.(22 for the powersystem and 6 for the paint). This was the very first plane out of the molds so i know we can cut at least a few ounces off the next one. I feel under 64 is doable. If I would have opened the bays on the wing and used better wood I'm sure i could have lost 4 oz right there.
Power system is my usual proven setup. Scorpion 3026-890 Phx 45, FM-9vr timer.Hyperion 4s 4000 batteries. 13x4.5 pusher prop.Tru turn e spinner. It has Tom Morris controls system and a Winship main gear(thanks Bob).
Flew 3 short flights(1.5 min) adjusted the trim tabs just a bit, added some tip weight and turned it loose.
First full flight was the full pattern It flew on rails and tuned on a dime. I'm impressed for sure!!!!! I feel that I have a winner here that wont need much to have it flying at 100%. This plane will not make it to brodaks. I need to get my letters and numbers on it and fix some flaws in the paint. After that it should make every contest that I attend for the rest of this year.
