I got a deal on an Flight Streak ARF and was getting ready to power it "old school" with the fastest spinning 36 I had in the drawer and got an idea. I had been playing around with the Turnigy "high torque" in-runners (C540S-1100) with an idea to retro-fit it into a Classic/Nostalgia bird. No joy, it wouldn't flip the necessary prop (11x4.5 APC). So it was going into the "what was I thinking barrel" anyway. Turns out it has plenty of "torque" to spin a 9x4.5APC EP. It actually works very well. I'm flying it on 4S -2150 pack with a Will Hubin FM2-C and CC Icelite 50. It flys the Streak at 5.0 laps on 0.015x61's at around 12,000 rpm. Comes down at 95 deg and uses a little over 1200 mah for a 6 minute flight. The Streak flys amazingly well at that low speed. It stays out at the end of the wires and is VERY quiet. I did some different things for the motor mount. Because it's an in-runner I was able to use the can to an advantage. I went over to Big's house before I mounted the fuse on the wing. I took along a Forstner bit that was about .070" larger than the OD of the motor. We flopped the Bridgeport head over to the side and cooked up a mount for the fuse. We clamped some 1.0" soft pine blocks on either side of the front end to keep it from splitting out. I de-burred it and added a couple layers of carbon vail to the cylindrical detail made by the Forstner bit to tighten up the dia to fit the motor can then made a couple small plates to push the motor back into the mount. I cut some airflow fairings into the rear of the mount. I put the battery into the wing by cutting the leading edge and planking back far enough to fit the battery. I then boxed the hole with 1/8 in light ply. I finished the wing cut out with some carbon vail to keep the planking from splitting. I then covered the rest of the front end of the fuse with carbon to make it black like it was before I cut the mono coat off. I think it adds just the right "hi tech" touch. It was fun to do and it works very well. pics

Thanks guys. I'm having fun like everyone else seeing what the possibilities of the parts at hand are. I also hate to waste power systems. HB~> I was surprised that the motor wouldn't swing the prop. I also have one of the 810kv versions. It wouldn't swing the 11x4.5 beyond 9000 rpm on 4s. It would do 11400 on 5s but that is outside of the motor spec. Disappointing torque but great efficiency. You've got to see it do the climb to the third loop of the clover. Pulls like it's geared to the air.....
