Thought I'd share my first electric set up, it's a re-fitted Vector 40
Scorpion 3026 890 kv
APC 11.5x5, the wood prop is a 9X4 for bench testing
Shulz F2B esc
Kim Doherty programmer timer
Zippy 3000ma 4s 14.8v battery
Total weight is 49 oz.
One interesting note I ran the motor for 5 min and when I put the battery on the charger it was still fully charged...hmm Anyway I'm pretty psyched about it I can't get over how smooth it runs, can't wait till summer... y1 #^ <=
Thanks

Way to go Dwayne! Looks like a first class set-up all the way. You OUGHT to be psyched this is gonna work GREAT!

Dwayne,
Looks good!!
One thing to check, make sure you don't have your charger set to storage mode. If you do, then it will maybe show fully charged when it is at only 50% (don't ask how I know this). Also, if you are running the motor without a prop then the load will be greatly reduced and the drain much less than under regular prop load.
-
Thanks guys, John...I'll check my charger and the prop is the one in the pics a 9X4, by the way digital cameras take cool pics, in pic #1 the motor is running at 8000 rpm. n~
-
Well, a 9-4 at 8000 RPM won't take much current, but it should be SOME measurable drain on the battery.

Perpetual motion baby!
We can all give Dwayne our batteries and he can CHARGE them up by flying is airplane!!! :o ;) ;D LL~ LL~ LL~

Hi Dwayne,
I don't know what charger you are using, but make sure when you charge your batteries you set the mode for "Balance" and not "Charge". The charger will put more back into the battery on that mode to balance each cell in the pack. I have written an article on keeping battery statistics and the effect a charger has on batteries when charging them. It will appear in the next issue of Stunt News.
Good luck with the Vector. I know you will enjoy it.
