Title: Mounting ESC and timer
Post by: James Mills on February 28, 2013, 11:09:17 PM
Can any of you guys post some pictures of how you mounted the ESC and timer in a full body ship, in this case a Junar.  I built the nose with Bob Hunts hardmount system.

Thanks,

James

Here is my first plane last year.
It is a bottom access type.
The ESC mounts above the battery and the timer is behind the arming plug tower (bare ply structure).

Hope it helps some.

Thanks Paul, are they held in place with Velcro?

The ESC is held down with Velcro. The timer has a balsa pad it bolts to with spacers so as to not put any stress in the PCB.

Here is a photo of my Cardinal, with the cowl off to one side.  The Ice 50 is mounted to the inside bottom using Velcro.  The KR timer is on the inside of the fuse just ahead of the battery.   This system has provided an easy way to move items to obtain the proper CG and to allow max cooling.  Hope this gives you ideas.
