motor/battery protection in the event of a sudden arrival
« on: August 03, 2007, 05:11:56 AM »
Hi all, I have a question regarding motor cut off following a power on ‘landing’ (I am a returnee to control line and as such am still at the point where I frequently prang before the fuel runs out…). What happens if an electric powered CL model is crunched and the motor stalls – is a fuse a safe way of protecting the motor/battery or should the ESC take care of things? (am thinking in terms of a brushless set up with timer).

Many thanks

John,

Your ESC should handle this fast enough to prevent any damage to your powertrain components by shutting down. If it can't, I would buy a different ESC.

Kim.

Thanks Kim,

I will start exploring ESC specs. and get experimenting.
