I found a reasonably priced source for Liquitex Water based spray can acrylic. This works well over foam and easy cleanup with water or Windex.

Liquitex has been used by the RC crowd on foamies and will work well for electrics. It is available at a number of different Art stores but this one had the best price.

I applied to the Liquitex my Scrappy 12" catapult glider. This ship has wing with wood leading edge with foam for 75%, tail is all foam. Liquitex went on smooth over the wood (has packing tape cover) and also the sanded foam without damaging, bonce is it has not noticeable odor.
