This is the reason we now have tighter regs in regards to lipos on aircraft........what a $%^&*!!!
He lied about having lipos in his checked luggage.....Sheesh!

Right in advance of the Worlds, too -- thanks guy!!!

No, no, the article is dated 2014 but I only just saw it on the net.
It just shows how stupid some people can be so the airlines have to be more diligent.
You can still carry lipos on the aircraft as carry on luggage.
You must seal the connectors and pack the batteries separately in a clear container.

I've used one of those Lipo Safe bags for the last few world champs without problems on the airlines.

Our batteries are under 100 watt/hours each and it says that we can take any amount as carry on. (7kg limit of course.) ;D
Ha ha, good luck trying to take 15 of them on the plane.
I took 2 with no problems and I believe other pilots have taken 3 or 4 and have been ok.

More or less the same on this side of the ditch, seems Air New Zealand will allow up to 100wh or 2 batteries in carry on. But NONE in checked bags.
I'll be taking some with me next month, in a lipo bag and with the plugs isolated to prevent the chance of any shorts.

Like glow fuel in F2A and F2D, you need to standardize batteries so you can get them on site.
I can't carry a can of liquid fuel on an airplane. Why should the airlines risk carrying a battery with the same energy content. In reality, a battery can release energy with a simpler failure mode than a container of liquid.
The killer Muslim attacks around the world have caused a drastic upgrading of aircraft security technology. This has had a negative impact on our life style, which is the goal of terrorism.
