Getting ready to do a second fuse for my Victory which will be electric. Ship is 60" span and 700+ sqin area. The older set ups were around a 2826 x 760kv motor with 5S 2700 ish pack. Is there a better setup based on currently available motors and pack? Like to settle on a pack size to take advantage of the Black Friday sale at TP.

Weight will probably cloud my answer but a 28xx might be a bit light for 700 sq. I would go to a similar KV in a 35xx. I am the last 5s holdout in our group mainly because the $400 to go to 6s is not in my budget. I use a 3515-710 on a 2800 5s driving a 63oz 690sq in plane and have power to spare. I have flown it once on a 2800 6s which was better, but not enough to make me switch. However I will make the switch when it is time for a new batch, probably with the newer L-ion batteries. Unfortunately TP doesn't have them. My situation is also clouded by the fact that I use a Fiorotti timer which allows me to draw as much power as I need from the 5s. If I were using a fixed RPM type like the FM-9 I would probably like the 6s more.

Hi Dennis,
I think you will find the most common setup with a active timer is a Badass 3515-710 (or equivalent) with a 6S 2800 lipo or 6S Li-Ion. If you are using a passive timer you might not benefit as much from a 6S setup.

What timer and what prop do you intend to run?

In addition to what everyone else said, I would focus on total weight you think you can achieve: if under 62-63 oz, then a 2826 motor would suffice. If around 64-65 oz, then 3515. And if the plane is 66-68 os, I would be looking at 3520 or even 3525 size motors with 6S2800 packs.

Mike has good advice but, here in Texas it gets hot, so I switched from a 2826 to a 3515. The 3515 runs cooler.
