so today at the field i forgot to hook plane to stooge which caused a nose over, prop came off motor did not shut off till i unplugged, it now when restart rpm comes up then then goes back down to maybe only 5200 rpm from original about 9200 rpm have i destroyed my esc or governor ?

If you have a servo tester plug it up to your ESC in place of the KR timer. You can then use the tester to run the motor over it's full speed range. If the motor runs full RPM range the ESC and motor are OK. Next step is to try and set the RPM with the KR program stick.

PS do all of your testing with no prop or a very small prop to keep from frying a motor. If you use a full size prop keep run times short.

thank you JOHN keep this info for my next issues but overnight i have discovered the issue is the motor by removing the esc and governor from that motor and pairing with another motor and it worked fine

Have you opened up the motor to see if you can spot any damage? I am querulous as to what kind of a failure mode would cause the motor to run slow. Also I thought the KR timer would have detected the low RPMs and turned off. ???

I had a similar experience and toasted the motor. My solution is to set the amp cut off to fast, this will stop the motor from drawing max amps and getting toasted.

The prop strike protection on the KR Timer is not active until the motor reaches the governed RPM.
(The Climb_and_Dive timer safely shuts down in a nose over. ;D)

so i have since pulled the motor end cap off and no issue to my eye but i did notice motor in plane prop spin seemed a little stiff compared to another i have
i thought the issue was the motor but after reinstalling esc and kr governor so i could recalibrate delay rpm flight time upon pressing s1 2x rpm went through the roof do not know rpm but it was a lot and pressing the < > buttons had no effect so i tried to set delay led indicates it except my input but it did not as there is no delay now
so now i have no idea what to do
i do not mean this as a knock on kr this my inability to understand
fyi these were use governor given to me but had worked fine until now

i want to try this timer but my soldering skills are lacking em nervous to purchase

Some ESC’s (ones that are likely more expensive and overly complex) have programmable settings to adjust the maximum current level that triggers an automatic shutdown. Some also allow for setting how the ESC reacts when it hits that max current. Reacting very fast is the safest but some users may prefer a slower response just in case there is only a brief spike in current.
Soldering electronics isn’t so bad once you get the hang of it. Watch a few videos and practice a bit first. i just received a new kf governor ver.3 from Brodak i hooked it up to see how it acts have not tried to program it but delay is about 28 sec. then when i push button to start it ramps up to a set rpm for a couple seconds then drops rpm down is this normal out of box ?

The KR timer comes with default settings. When you plug up the battery, with your KR timer switch off, your ESC should beep letting you know that it is armed. When flip the switch to ON the motor should burp letting you know that the KR timer sequence has started. Now the start delay time has started. I am guessing that the default delay, you are seeing, is 28 seconds. At the end of the delay the motor will ramp-up to full speed. During this ramp-up the Kr timer is checking to see if the motor is healthy. If it likes what it sees it throttles the motor down to the set speed.
