Kavan handle for ECL
« on: May 22, 2010, 01:29:21 PM »
Hello to everyone,
Does anyone have experience of new Kavan handle, which is designed specially for ECL?
See http://www.kavanrc.com/cgi-bin/dpsmart.exe/ProductsV2.html?L+Kav+mlul2340+_DLang_02ENG_01dp_5fSearch1_02SMCLHandleElec_01Search_02Index_01
Quite pricey, but on the other hand I don't know what kind of electronics that handle contains.

I need throttle control one of my future project (profile scale), so this seems to be one option.

BTW, what would be best and easiest way to get throttle control, if I decide to make my own handle? I have noticed that some E-carrier fliers use third line to operate potentiometer on the plane, and others use servo tester, which drives ESC. What kind of servo tester works in ECL, and what modifications is needed to get them work in ECL use?

Regards,

-Jani-

Jani - WELCOME to Stunt Hanger!   010!

Clancy Arnold's U-Tronic systems have been the standard for multi-function scale models for a long time.  His single channel system will work on 2 lines driving a normal ESC to control motor speed.

Will Hubin also has a new single-channel throttle controller that works on two lines.

Both of these guys are regulars here in Stunt Hanger, hopefully they will check in here soon, or you can contact them directly.

Ok, thank you guys for your answers!

It seems that you American ECL fliers have all good stuff in there.. :)
I live in Finland (North Europe), and here situation is little bit different, that was one reason for my question about modified servo tester for DIY solution. But it might be better to stay with already tried systems like Clancy/Hubin etc.

Jani
