The initial flights have been very promising. Added 1/4 oz of tip weight, total is now 1 oz. Moved leadouts slightly forward from the initial position. Bumped up RPM on motor twice, should now be around 9,700. Switched from 64 ft. lines to 61 ft. lines. It seems that the ideal length is somewhere in between those two lengths. Lap times are in the 5.4 range. Have not made any changes to the CG position, it seemed fine from the first flight. Only using about 50% of my TP 5S 2800 battery, so there's lots of room for changes. I have a 12 X 6 prop ready to install, want to see the difference from the 11 X 5.5 that's on there now. We've just started trimming it, I hope to keep making it better and better. Final weight, RTF is 50 ounces.
This is by far the best airplane I have ever flown. It's much better than me, that's for sure. Only have about 10 patterns on it so far, it's been raining for almost a week now. Rounds are nice and round, square corners are so smooth, it's amazing. I'd like a little more line tension, I think the bigger prop will give that to me. First contest is late June, plenty of time to practice.
If you're looking for a fun profile to build and fly, I don't think you'd be disappointed at all with the Imitation.
