well now I did it but I have wanted to for a long time. I ordered electric system from RSM and will start with 35 size plane. I don't know much about what I am doing but I still like to learn and it is part of my philosephy that you are never to old to do anything. Wish me luck and I know if I need help I will get it, Your not so famous old guy, zLeo HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> H^^

Which side of the Willamette do you live on?
I don't know if there's any other Fireballs members that have gone electric. I haven't gone C/L electric, but I've done quite a bit of electric RC, and I've got a boatload of test equipment, tools, and general electronics-related experience -- so if you're stumped and feel like you need some hands-on help, give me a call (or tell me that you'll be bringing your plane to the next meeting -- that might motivate me to actually show up).

Thanks Tim You are on standby until I get my Parts and I also learened to fly on elctri powered sailplanes. mMy phone number is on the club roster that you can get from Barbera Entwhistle. Thanks Leo HB~> HB~> HB~>

WELCOME LEO! Between Tim in your neighborhod and the folks here in the forum you should be up to speed in now time. So what project do you have i mind???
Next we gotta get the "DOC" on board, then we can declare a Holliday!

Leo, no sweat! There will be more info than you want to hear at the contest in April. Bring a pencil and paper, there is more than one way to do it and it can be confusing until you find the path of least resistance (pun intended). You wll like it. No missed needle settings, bad fuel, well you know.....

Thanks Mike and Dennis. It's good to be a late boomer as you can get help from all the guys that did it the hard wayu. What a great bunch of freinds I have and as always Doc Is one that tops the list. I thought I better do this before I get too old so Doc take notice. HB~> HB~> HB~> H^^

yes, I have a feeling its going to be very quiet around the stunt circles in Eugene this year for the regionals.. well except for those noisy combat planes,, S?P

As long as Dan Rutherford is there, it won't be quiet.

I started buying electric power systems two years ago and I now have completed one CL scale model, converted a CL sport model to electric. All of my future projects will be electric power, and I have sold off my glow engines that were in storage. I Still have some glow powered CL scale models but they will get retired over time and go full electric at some point. You won't regret it!
The best thing I did was take an existing model and convert it to electric power to learn the system and how to work with it. After flying with that model for an entire summer I was ready to move to other projects. On my models I have throttle control so I installed electronic controls so I can fly with throttle instead of using the timer normally used in CL stunt.
This is a link to a book I wrote on electronic controls for those interested in throttle control. Clancy Arnold sells an electronic control system that can be used for CL carrier, scale or sport models. Look for the link on the right side 1/2 down the page.

I will be doing a Nobler Arf for the first project and a little larger Arctic Fox for my next project. I hope to have the Nobler done by the end of April and that will be my sport flyer until I get used to the routeen of the electric system. Watch out Keith! ~^ ~^ ~^ ~> ~> ~> HB~> HB~>

Don't let Uncle Mikey hear you say that. Last time someone mentioned electric old time, somebody shouted out "Get a rope". >:D

The words 'Electric' and 'Old Time Stunt' should never be used in the same sentence. n1

I find it very enjoyable flying electric OTS!

Well, that's wonderful, and I'm glad you enjoy it. That being said, let me repeat:
The words "Electric" and "Old Time Stunt" should never be used in the same sentence.

...then nothing happens.
if you're lucky.

HEY tIM GIVE ME A CALL MY PARTS ARE IN BUT i THINK i NEED A SWITCH. i THINK i WILL DO aRCTIC FOX FIRST. i AM TAKING PLANS DOWN IN THE MORNING AND GET THEM BLOWN UP A LITTLE SO IT WILL HAVE A LITTLE MORE WING AREA. i5T WON'T BE LONG BEFORE RHIS PROJECT IS UNDER WAY. H^^ H^^ HB~>

I tossed a handful of switches into my flight box. If I remember I'll bring a (horrors!) RC electric so you can see how stuff hooks up between the ESC & motor.

Never mind, Tim. He took the Caps Lock switch from his keyboard and used that.
