Scorpion motor question (Crist @ Alan)
« on: October 19, 2009, 08:58:30 AM »
Hello Guys I am looking at a setup for my Vector and am basically going with Alan's setup. My issue is I cannot find a 3020 with 780RPM per volt as Alan uses or a 890 as Crist uses. The only ones they list are 14-931 and a 12-1063.So where did you get these motors or did you change them? Thanks Dennis  ???

Dennis,
Here are 2 sources

http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_80&products_id=521 and
http://www.rcdude.com/servlet/the-1246/Scorpion-SII-dsh-3020-dsh-780-V2-Brushless/Detail

The first source is the importer for North America.

I also think you are seeing the original 3020 versions. I notice that on the first site, the newer V2 (like the 3020-780) are listed as a separate category. I thinkt the V2's are more efficient in our power range, so suggest going for them. The older models must be some left in stock since I don't think they are being produced anymore--but may be wrong.

Dennis,
Yeah, you want the Series II motors.  They are more efficient.

Hello and Thankyou guys. ;) I got a motor ,ESC and some props ordered up.I currently am running a Scorpion 3014-18 in a RC Extra 230 3D plane.I am going to pull my LA out of my Vector and give Electric stunt a try.I have watched and read everything for the last few years and decided to give it a try.I have all the charging and balancing equipment so there is not to much to get me going. What are some of the points to look at for a timer  ???
 Thanks again Dennis  ;D

There are at least 3 timers in the $30 I can recommend----Will Hubin's timers, Ztron and Jmp-2. They all work well.

I got my Hubin timer from Will by dropping him an e-mail--he is registered on this site. The other two are available from a variety of sources---I got mine from http://www.bsdmicrorc.com/   (look under "misc Electronics".

There are other good timers too, but these are the three I have used. I am sure others will pipe in too.
