Hey Sparky How About A Moderator
« on: August 14, 2006, 07:39:40 PM »

Hey Robert... if he would be willing, Ron King has the credentials to be the moderator of this section of the forum. He has been doing a "Yeoman's Job" of fielding most questions.

Thanks Ron.

All he has to do is say he would like to do it.

Hey guys, I just spotted this thread.  f~

I'll be happy to help, but think Dean Pappas has much better credentials. He is actually a real live EE. I'm more of an Applied Scientist (BA in Communicatiosn, MS in Computer Science, law school, Foreign Service diplomatic corps, blah, blah). I know just enough to have a Ham license (N3CCR) and stay out of trouble.  <=

What does a moderator do? This is a clean place and I hope we can discuss things without bickering.

Thanks,

Ron

EDIT - Grammar.

Ron, I think you have the job confused with a referee!  <=

Actually I see the greatest contribution of a moderator to keep the threads on track and debunk myths and dispel rumors that always have a way of being interjected into the more esoteric discussions.

You are right. I did not have a good handle on the job description.  The Internet has become a wonderful place to learn new things and share ideas. But (too often) people don't realize just how public this place can be and send things they should have kept to a smaller audience (or themselves).

"Debunk myths" and "dispel rumors"?   As if I know which is which.  %^

"Esoteric discussions"? This whole subject area is still very esoteric.  Glow plugs were introduced in 1947 (?). That is almost sixty years of knowledge to use as a reference. I've only been flying electrics since 1983 and much of that was in the old brush motor, NiCad days.

One thing I can say is if you learn more from your failures than from your success, then I have learned an awful lot over the years.  <=

I'll need a lot of help from my "peeps" - i.e. YOU GUYS!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll be happy to help you if possible.

Ron
