Collet question
« on: March 13, 2015, 09:24:01 PM »
does anyone have an idea of where to find a 5mm to 1/4x28 electric motor collet? I've been searching on the web but the few (extremely few) pieces I've found are back ordered. The only one I've been able to find was a 5mm to 5/16x24. I suppose I could just use a 1/4x28 die and rework it but I'd like to just find the right one.

Why are you interested in dead French celebrities?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colette.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I thought Tower might have some but I see the don't, unless you want the set screw type, which I've tried and didn't care for. I have a few of those. If you want them you can have them. Why don't you use the, Hyperion ADAP-50xl They are a 5mm shaft to a 6mm Threaded shaft that is threaded on the inside to 3mm. These are the most versatile and probably the nicest ones I have found as you can use them with almost any type of spinner you can find or have. RC dude has those in stock. and they are not expensive http://www.rcdude.com/product-p/hp-adap-50xl.htm

Randy,
Aren't you using an E-flite motor?  Their collet is 5mm and 1/4 - 28.  I use the all the time.

E-flite is available at our local hobby shop in Covington.  Hobbytown in Spanaway should have them also.  They are inexpensive and work fine.

Alan,

I'm using a Cobra motor. And I know that E Flight has them but they are current sold out (online, anyway). I order a couple from some outfit call ReadyMade RC, but it's been a week and they haven't arrived. Maybe they will eventually. I will try Hobbytown.

Thanks, guys.
