I got one of the $89 900 watt 2 stroke gen sets from Harbor Freight a few years back

As long as you read the reviews and find the recoil starter is weak...then you learn NOT to PULL full rope length to start...just a few short quick pulls....

The advantage of this one is that it a 4 cycle.  No oil gas mixture to mess with.  However it looks like it is sold out for now.
