From Bench to airplane
« on: April 17, 2013, 09:52:34 AM »
I just took the ESC/ timer combo off the test stand and put it in the
plane. Since the Spin 66 is the physically the same. No changes were necessary.
The switch had to be installed and I routed the ribbon and sensor and placed them
as shown just before the wing high point. I just checked with Igor and that should be a good start.
Now I wait for Sat-Sun morn where the winds should be calm.

How much have U flown with it and how much have U had to tweak it to get it right for U?

I flew a short one minute flight with the active regulation turned off to verify the lap time.  After that flight I the set the flight time to 5:30 and turned on the calibration flag.  After the calibration flight I haven't changed anything.  We've either had 25 mph winds or rain for the last two months it seems, so I only have 5 or 6 flights on it so far.

The calibration flight is not necessary, it is better not to do it, if you do not have real reason to do it. It is impossible to "undo: it.

That real reason is, that change of sensitovity changes lap time. If you cannot live with that then do calibration, otherwise you not need it.

Just do not fly in rain, it is not waterproof, and that place will fill it with water :- ))))

Ooops!  Sorry, I read through the pdf instructions and I thought the calibration flight was a necessary step.  Oh well, it seems to be working just fine.  Sorry for the mis-information!

Not big problem, but for me is better if I know that calibration has my initial number, in case of troubles I can eliminate one possible problem :-)))

... but if all works well, it is ok :- ))

I don't mean to hijack Darrell's thread, but what kind of troubles might I run into since I did go through the calibration?  Now I'm worried that I may not be getting the full potential.  I thought I was doing what I was supposed to do, but it turns out I didn’t know what I was doing!!  Of course this would not be the first time that’s happened to me!!

I'll tape over it then it should be ok. Although it shouldn't rain but the fog and humidity are different
