first flight streak flights
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:03:30 AM »

Did up a Flite Streak with an Eflite power 10  1100kv...3 cell 2200 packs, 9X6 electric pusher..
turns 10450 RPM.....we tried it on 52ft lines...at roughly 75% selected on the rpm...3.7 second lap times...OOPS !!
I got real dizzy real fast :-)   good thing I had a VERY experienced world class flyer in the center with me....did 4 short flights, and decided to slow down the rpm, and go to 60 ft lines,
not sure but I think I'm looking for almost 6 second lap times?? maybe someone who knows more than me can help here....The timer went punk, so the times were in the 2 1/2 to 3 minute range, and we used 540 mah from the batteries...guess 6 min isn't gonna be a problem.... the best part is it flies really well, good line tension, and really smooth.  #^

CONGRATS RON!

6.0 sounds  little slow for  Streak, I'd think something around 5 secs would be the ticket - maybe 10k to 10.2k range???

Okay..thanks for that..I'll try for 5 second or a little bit more...I thought that slower would be better for me since I'm a beginner again..haven't flown Control line since 1960... I know the Streak isn't exactly a trainer, but it was what I could come up with that was down and dirty that would fit what I had on hand for motor speed control etc...I just used some of the stuff I use for RC, been flying electric RC for about 16 years exclusively...so obviously, I have lotsa "junk" lying around :-) I think I am gonna end up replacing the motor with a 480/1020, which will swing the same prop, but at less amp draw...and at roughly the same RPM. it will also drop my overall weight from 28 ounces to 26.
