Battery maintenance
« on: October 18, 2024, 05:30:55 PM »
Just wondering How long is it safe to keep a battery at full charge. And does each discharge cycle for storage have an effect .

Discharging from full charge to storage charge will do less damage than leaving the battery at full charge. Minimize your batteries time at extreme states of charge/discharge.

I charge batteries the morning of the contest and have them back to storage charge before the sun goes down. How many days = 1/2.

Are we talking LIpo or LI-Ion.  Lipo should go to storage ASAP but I have a set I have been using two years that I let go a couple of days and they are just fine.  I charge them to 98%.  Li-Ion I keep charged all the time during the flying season.  Probably guilty of battery abuse.
