A fellow Philly Flyer and friend Larry Wilks is building a electric Fancherized Twister. He asked that I post pictures as he builds which in turn may help others. This will be his first electric as well as his first season flying Intermediate.

The only pictures currently available are of the motor mount. Larry used a 1/2" balsa fuse with 1/32" aircraft ply doublers. The motor mount is 1/4" ply backed up with rock hard balsa gussets shaped to please the eye. The motor mount was then wrapped with glass to tie it all together (not pictured).

The power system will consist of the following.

Motor: Cobra 2820-12

ESC: Castle Creations Phoenix ICE Lite 50

Battery: Thunder Power G6 Pro-Lite 2700mah

nice,, looks like a great intro plane,,
I started off with a twister tweaked,, it sure did good for me,, To bad electric wasnt around then, ( well affordable anyway)

The Cobra motors look promising. I figured I would use Larry as a test bed.

A Twister will be a capable profile airplane all the way to expert. I think Larry plans to build a full fuse airplane next winter for 2013. That should give him competitive airplanes in both events.

He does hope to have it at the Flyin. He is learning to set the needle (glow) but lacks the confidence when he is alone or a contest. He often misses the needle and that prevents him from getting a good flight. The electric Twister should eliminate that variable.

I corrected the first post to note he used 1/32" ply for the doublers.
