Guys,

What ESC are you using besides the castle edge 50?

I am going to try the ZTW Beatles G2 60amp esc on a 6s system soon. I haven't used it yet, but it's ready to install.

Hey Tim,
I am using a Tempest 15A on a 1/2aish size airplane and have used a Bad A$$ Rebel 45A on a P-40 with success.  Got a little more focused with Phoenix Edge Lite 50 (PEL50) in Airplane mode on my Profile Oriental but was not happy with the response time.  Based on some of Paul and Dick's work with Paul Emmerson, I did some bench comparison between airplane and multirotor modes and had good results with the PEL50.  Glad to hear that brake has been added to the multirotor mode by Castle.  Just need things to dry out a little more to get some testing in.

Thanks John,

I have one edge lite 50 to try out, but my other ice lite 50s will not work because of the break issue. Just wondering if there was a cheaper alternative than additional edge 50's.

Tim,
Unless you need the data logging, I think that the cheaper the better.  I have not tested a bunch of ESCs yet but hope to run through my stash of them when the weather breaks.  Having the feedback from motor to the timer is a plus, much like the KR timers, for the less expensive non-governing ESCs.  The Tempest ESC (https://innov8tivedesigns.com/products/speedcontrollersandbecs/tempest-speed-controllers.html) is one of the more cost effective locally available ones out there.
Regards,
John

Thanks John,

I may try the Tempest and the Rebel 45A. I let you know what I find out.

I have had good luck with Hobby King's Turnigy Plush-32 line of ESC.  I have used them primary with KR timers.  I have one set up with my Climb and Dive timer. It works well on the bench.  I have not test flown it due to a bad back.  Old age sucks!

PS they do require a program card but it is cheep - like 8$.

Hi Tim
I have several  Clime Dive with the Edge 50 ESC and one with the Talon 60 ESC . The Talon works the same as the Edge and is less expensive.
