Title: Equal ESC Wire Lengths?
Post by: David Hoover on April 17, 2018, 10:36:28 AM
I have a Maxx products arming plug assembly.  I can shorten the wires on the ESC so that the total lengths including the arming plug are no longer than what came on the ESC.  You can see from the pic, however, that if the two wires on the ESC are equal lengths, once plugged into the arming plug assembly, the total lengths through the arming plug will no longer be equal.  Is this a problem?  If it is a problem I plan on making the ESC wires unequal and curl the longer one into a 'pigtail'.  Any guidance is welcomed.

As far as the battery leads being of unequal length -- you're fine.  You just don't want the overall length to get too big.

You're probably even OK as far as the overall length of the power leads, unless the ESC manufacturer says different.  Were I selling ESCs, I'd be properly cautious about people using extra-long wires on their batteries, and I'd accommodate it, or I'd have screaming headlines in my product literature about it.

Thanks Tim.  I was hoping that would be the case.  Shortening the leads is not a problem and I need to do that anyway to avoid the "pot of spaghetti" effect in the battery/electronics bay.
