Whoa Nellie !!! ,That's really moved the bar up a bunch more.
I guess jealous hardly describes it.
Keith Varley
p.s. What makes me keep thinking Cessna Ag-Cat?
p.p.s. He boldly goes where no man hath gone before!!!

It looks so Different yet it is so freaking cool looking!!! I love it!
-
wow nice.

Well, I think this ends any argument about what part of the country the most incredibly original stunters come from. Since Phil and Jim Aron (Systrema) are neighbors my theory is there's something in the water supply.
I think I see the warp drive engines from the Starship Enterprise hovering above the wheels, so who knows what this thing is capable of.
-
Absolutely incredible. One of the nicest planes i have seen. Congratulations.

Way to go Phil. I have really been looking forward to seeing your new foray into ECL - and you knocked it out of the park!
-
Beautiful work, Phil. Man, I wish I had your sense of design. I see you have the cooling issue well in hand too. I look forward to seeing that bird in the air.
How about posting the details as the development and trimming goes along.
Congratulations,
John Witt

Very nice Phil.
It seems that one member of the JCT moves at the speed of light relative to the other!
-
Nice Phil but what is with the crop duster canopy??????? The execution is fantastic and the gorgeous nose detail.
-
It's lovely ... care to explain the name?
How about some warp-drive bay pics?
Bravo,
Dean P.

Thanks for all the compliments.
This was a fun, frustrating and what do I do now kind of project. Being newly retired with too much energy and not a lot to do put me in some interesting places. Ended up making at least two of everything except the elevator/stab and basic wing. Carved up a lot of different mold bucks and then reworked them all. Molded balsa around different size dowels. Molded a bunch of cheek cowls in different shapes. Built two complete fuselages. When it was all done I just stared at this big pile of cool parts wondering, what can I make with this stuff. As I glued stuff together, cut it off and replaced it with other stuff it gradually began to take shape. Then it hit me, this is sorta looking like a concept plane from The Jetsons cartoon show in the ’60. Well it didn’t take long for me to start watching cartoons all day and night! Some ’60 swagger with 2010 juice. Even though I had a very different name in mind my wife called it Elroy and the name just fit!
Here are some photos of the power pod. Note ESC is tied to carbon rod and hung directly in airflow cooling tube. Tubes are designed to allow constant flow of cool air to draw out expanded hot air from ESC, motor and battery. Firewall/motor mount is carbon plate with airflow holes. Battery floor is 1/8” lite ply spaced to allow air circulation. All electric components except battery and timer are inserted from the top and either mounted or secured with electrical ties.

Outstanding! Now here is some one that is thinking outside of the box.

Beautiful Phil. You have always been a craftsman but this is just special. Pure airplane. One's eyes glide along the surface like you skidding along the boundary layer.....
-
Phil,
Your work always leaves me speechless.

It's so Phil. I like it.
-
;D my oh My! Awesome Phil! Just read the first flights report Larry did...couldnt enlarge the pics fast enough!
-
Wow, that is some very impressive craftsmanship Phil! It's quite a tall order, but it looks like you may have outdone even yourself with this one. Super cool paint scheme and graphics too, as usual. Is it still dope?
(Keith, that's Cessna Ag-wagon. I thought the same thing when I first checked out the profile. With the bulging canopy it does kind of look like a super streamlined adaptation of one.)
-
Mr. Granderson,
Beautiful craftsmanship and finish. Just how wide is the fuselage from the wing back?
A really "far out" design treatment (but who would expect anything else from the *Jive Combat Team*)! ;D

Bill,
Somehow 1.25" seemed like a good number for the width of the aft fuse so that's what happened.
Actually I designed and built a series planes in the mid '60s thru mid '70s with this fuse arrangement (Diplomat, Triumph and Elgato). Its not flimsy nor is it complicated to construct.

WOW!
Another GRAND GRANDERSON ARTISTICAL MASTA'PIECE!
AMEN!!! H^^ CLP** BW@

Shultzie..........Where have you been? I've missed your irreverence for all that is not FUN! Elroy says Hey.
-
Very nice Phil.
It seems that one member of the JCT moves at the speed of light relative to the other!
Come on Paul!
At least the other member of the JCT still likes the smell of burning fuel and the sound of a good engine!!! GO HOWARD!!!!
Beautiful work as usual PTG!

This is indeed true. However,...

This is indeed true. However,...
NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo

This is indeed true. However,...
OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

Phil, as I stated in the other thread, this Elroy has to grow on a person. It like the little lady that you looked at the first time and wondered who would date her. Then all of a sudden she is the most beautiful girl in the world. How is someone going to top this for orignality? H^^
-
Shultzie..........Where have you been?
Phil WOW!
Just got a phone call from Joe Dill asking me the same thing?
Great to hear that our Joe is on the mend and FINALLY "FEELIN' HIMSELF N UTTERS AGAIN LL~
Let some say..."It's betta to LOOK GOOD THAT TO FEEEEEEL GOOD! However, today I think I would just rather "FEEL GOODER INSTEAD? :o
-
This is indeed true. However,...
This sounds like the admission of another defector from the ranks of the IC engines :X
-
S?P Ahaa...coming out of the dark ages....the entire JCT out of the cloak closet and flaunting it subtly ! LL~ Well except for Phil!
-
It's out of the box, not out of the closet. Get your metaphors straight.
-
Out of the box and into the street,
The JCT turns up the heat.
-
Maybe you meant to say cloak and dagger.
With the JCT, it's provoke and swagger.
-
Just magnicent. A PTG paint job always seems to have a certain something to it and it's always wonderful. Those wheel pants might take a little time to get comfortable with. Interesting variation from the norm.
