Hi everybody.
My name is Jose Luis Oterino, from Spain. I have been flying contol line for more than 20 year, and during the last 8 year I flew aerobatics models.
About 3 years ago, I decided start on electric flight and with my friend and partner Pablo Sáez, designed an build an small and easy-to-use timer for this pourpose.
http://jpaeromodels.com/en/accesorios/05.php
I installed this timer on our model Solito, whit this equipment:
Motor: Thunder Pro 1100kv
ESC: Turnigy 25A
Batery: Turnigy 3S 2200 mAp
Prop: APC Electric 8X6
This was the result:

The result of the first experience was very good, so we thought the next step should be to is build a an aerobatic competition model, but we think realized our actual timer did not have adequate adjustments, so we started to work on the design of a new timer version.
One year and half later, after much work and many tests, Timer Jpam V.2.01 was born.

I designed a fast and easy building model with inexpensive building material. I named it Elektra
http://jpaeromodels.com/planosvuelocircular/Electricos.htm
Theese are the equipment and features of the model:
Motor: Turnigy 4250 600kv
ESC: Turnigy sentri 60A
Batery: Haker 4S 3700 mAp and Flight max 4S 4000mAp
Prop: 13X6; 13;7;13X8
Wingspan: 59 in
Lengt: 44 in
Weigt: 60 oz with haker battery; 62,5 oz with Flight max battery
Wing surface:
Lines: 0.018 x 67.25 feet
In the first flights, I tested several props, all of them APC.
With the 13x6 lap time was 5,6 sec and 2700 mA at 92% of full power.
With the 13X7... 5,4 sec and 2800 mA at 95% of full power.
With the 13X8... 5,2 sec and 3300 mA at 91% of full power and 5,30 min flight time
I participated with my Elektra in some competition with excellent results.
The Elektra proved to be very competitive, so I continued working on the design.
Elektra 700 was born. This model is an evolution of Elektra. Build with balsa wood and traditional techniques.
http://jpaeromodels.com/planosvuelocircular/Electricos.htm
Elektra 700 measurements are same as of Elektra, but Elektra 700 weight is reduced to 54 oz and has installed the ESC CC ICE 50
I install in this new model aTurnigy 4250 700kv. Also I tested the new LiCoO2 4S 3600 mah.
In the frist flight, only four minutes on flying, the comsupction was 1700 mah, with 13X6,5 APC E prop at 80% of full power and lap time was 4,9 sec.
In the remaining flights, 5,30 miutes, the comsuption was 2300mah with the same prop, I came down power at 78% and lap time descended to 5,1 sec.
I flight actually with this configuration, and it works perfectly. Comsupction is about from 2400 up to 2500 mAh.

Saludos, Jose y Pablo
Bienvenidos al foro.
Your development work is impressive, and there will be much to discuss!
until later,
Dean Pappas
P.S. guapissimo, el modelo!

Cool, nice plane.
I also switch from IC to electric.
My first timer was 0,9 gram.

Now I am working on this one.
http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8627
The program is almost ready to test.
I can use the memory card to log 7 analog signals.
The intention is to use these signals for controling the motor.
This will be year 201X.

Hola Jose !
Very impressive! Nice to see hard work come to fruition.
Can't wait to come back to Spain.

Hi all.
Thanks for your comments
Robert-Jan... Your work on CL timers looks very interesting.
We are starting to work on the next version of our timer, and it would
be something similar to your developement. We pretend also add new data
logging functions:
Current, Voltage, Instant Power, Comsumption, RPM, surfaces deflection
in degrees, etc.., even maybe lap time measure (not easy).
Most of the sensors would be integrated in the same PCB. Data would be
saved to a file in SD card.
We think to add several servo connectors for a possible use on retract
landing gear, flight by wire, ...
The timer could incorporate also a gobernor function, for use with ESC
without gobernor.
Well, a lot of work, also it will be year 201x..
Greetings

If you are interested you can get a copy of what I produced so far.
Maybe we can develop together. then it will be year 201(x/2) ;D

A good proposal, but the manager of the electronics is my partner and friend Pablo.
I'm doing the part of the models.
He will contact you shortly by e-mail

I've seen it flying for the first time this morning and looks good, it's time to start training again :)
bye!
