Electric power ships placed 1-2 and 3rd at the US Team trials.
Congrats to ORESTES,Kenny Stevens and Howard Rush

Although I am an electric fan (no pun intended ;D), I feel that I should point out that 4th and 5th places were within about 12 points of third and both were IC models (2074.48 for 3rd and 2062.26 for 5th place). This was a very close finish (for 3rd member of the team) and one maneuver could easily have made all the difference. y1

Jose,We missed ya,Hope the back gets better.Orestes and that Shark were on fire f~ f~ f~Trax

Electric power sure did very well at the team trials. It would be nice to know what systems each one of the top 3 models were using......motor, prop, timer, esc etc. The prop on Orestes' Shark look interesting and I like that way he covered up the hole that the Retro usually sticks out of.

I was just going to ask for the same information on our e tam members set up!

Jeff T. Did you see Orestes prop. The props are from the quad copters, just like the one's you showed me at the NATS.
Health is getting better.I'm doing some water therapy in the caribian as replacement for the Team Trials.
Orestes set up
Motor: E-Flite 32
Controller:castle ice lite 50
Timer:Hubin FM9
Disconnect switch:maxx product
Batteries:TP 5S 2700
Prop: the props are carbon fiber 13x6.5 matching set one pusher one tractor.
Jeff T can you post a source for these.
These props are a great way to test a pusher and a tractor setnups.

My setup: Plettenberg 20-16, Castle ICE-Lite 75 (settings posted here somewhere), Hubin FM-9 timer, Thunder Power G8 2700 mAh, 5-cell batteries with more C's than I need (45 and 70), APC 13-4.5 prop buzzed off to about 12.7.
-
My setup is plett. 25-14, light ice 50, hobby king 6s 2200 mah battery, old apc 13/4.5 pusher prop,Hubbin fm-9 timer. The quad copter props come from hobby king

Some IC guy needs to experiment with using governors on slime powered engines, in self-defense if nothing else.
Keith's timer may even be able to work off of the pulse from a hall-effect switch, if it'll pay attention to voltage swings as low as 5V and feedback as slow as once per revolution.

I think it's called using a tuned pipe.

I talked to Orestes quite a bit before, during, and after the contest. I was very happy to see him win and he said that he really likes the electric. Having flown one of the Sharks with the stock motor I assume that electric is a big improvement. Great, just what Orestes needed, a better plane. HB~>
Congrats to the Team, I hear the food is good in Poland. Have fun!

Where does Igor's accelerometer thingie plug into a tuned pipe?

I would love to have this discussion with you Tim but this is not the place.

So true! Though I appreciate the kind stuff said about piped setups. LL~

In your previous post you only mentioned governors.
Accelerometers in slimers whould need a servo and an R/C carb and there in lies the problem. Carbs don't react fast enough. Maybe if the IC guys went to fuel injection that might help. Maybe the servo could slide the pipe in or out depending on what the accelerometer says? You could be on to something.

Whoa, great idea. Still need that pesky servo, no?

A real treasure trove of stuff. Sort of like the guys on 'American Pickers' finding a barn full of old oil company signs.

David,Thanx for posting the link. You can click on any item and scroll down and on the left is the "Golden Menu of Goodies".Trax

Thanks for the links. Robert mentioned them to us at the contest.

My accelerometer timer almost identically copy function of pipe on the 2C motor, so there no need to doble the function :- ))))
Look, my settings are:
"Target throttle" ... this is something like pipe length
"sensitivity" ... something like ventury size - means how much it jump on when nose up
"max and min" ... it si like baffles configuration in pipe
even som people with too strong motors found the same like guys with large engines, and that is that they do not want acceleration, only braking
the real advantage is, that you can easily specify parameters and you can easily repeat them regarding conditions :- )))
