I am getting my Vector 40 ARF/ARC finished up for the Golden State Stunt Champs. This is my first electric stunter. I have been reading that the electric airplanes seem to be happier with the CG ahead of the their IC counterparts. Mine will have an Eflite Power 15, Castle Phoenix 45, FM-9 timer, APC 11X5.5EP prop, and a Hyperion 4s 2500 25C battery. Where is a good point to balance this airplane for starters? How far forward of the hinge line? The covering has all been stripped off and will be recovered with Hangar 9 Ultracoat. I am at 44.5 oz without covering and hoping to keep it under 50 oz with the battery. I'd like to know where to balance so I can decide if I want to cut the centers out of the elevators.

I believe that 15% of MAC is where others are flying. I'm at 17%.

FWIW, Mine flies best at 6 3/4" ahead of the hinge line. Excellent tracking and still turns great.

HI Shawn
The CG should be at 6.79 inches from the T.E Hingeline. many have been built as Electric and this CG works very well.
This is the CG shown on the plans, and works equally well for IC and Epower

I am going to fly it on 62' lines per your instructions over the phone. Any advice on lap times? What is a good number to shoot for?

The plane will determine the laptimes, I would start off a little fast, then slow it down if your plane flies as well. maybe 54.9 to 5.0 to start and see how it feels
