Title: Electric props and spinner fit
Post by: Dennis Toth on March 17, 2008, 09:41:23 PM
While doing some test runs on the A123 set up with the AXI 2820/8 motor I noticed that "standard" props and spinners (i.e. APC sport props, Goldberg spinners) are set up for 1/4" shaft size. The prop drive that I have for the 5mm shaft on the AXI motor is just a slight bit smaller. The APS electric series props fit the shaft perfect as does the Eflite spinners. If you want to use the standard props & spinners check the fit it should just slip on without wiggle room. If there is wiggle room some of the spinners have shaft shims or you may be able to make one from K&S brass tubing. Either way getting the proper fit is important as that very small misalignment will cause vibrations that is not good for out E-built front ends and could result in cracks or failure of the nose. Just something to be aware of.
