Electric flight Video
« on: March 07, 2010, 05:15:03 PM »
Fellow Eugene Prop Spinner member Jim Corbett recently took this video of my flight with my electric stunter.  Original design, 56" W.s.  Hacker 30X motor and 14 volt 3200 mAH battery.  Other club members have flown it, and it does very well with the pattern.
Have a look!

Looking good Floyd!  #^

How about some more particulars - size, area, weight, etc.  Don't forget to post in the "List your set-ups thread too.

I see the left-handed flyer - you got a left handed prop too????  :o

Hi Dennis.  This model has been flown for  a couple months here in our
Eugene "fantastic" flying venue..(read: NW Regionals).  Trouble is, I can only fly once, and then my charging setup is at home, taking about 2 hours. (2 ea. LiPo 7.3V @ 3200 mAh, 1 hour each).  You might remember my 2nd electric, a 3-engine job, reported on www.flyinglines.org recently.

What can I say about it?  Original design.  Hacker 30X motor.  Runs strong for the entire pattern.  The motor run gets a  bit soft on the 4-leaf clover, but still OK.  I think I've convinced fellow club member s on the benefits of electric!  I'm slmost sold, except I still like to fly OTS (spark ignition!).

Hey!  Lefties can't be all bad!  (see, "Bart Klapinsky"--I rest my case).    FLOYD CARTER

Update on electric flight.  Today, (Sunday) Eugene Prop Spinner Editor Jim Corbett took more videos of my electric model, as fellow Prop Spinner John Thompson ran it through the pattern. (and much better than my usual performance). This time, Jim got the landing, which was missing on his original video because of Camera error..  I'll post it when it arrrives.  FLOYD

The sun came out (a little bit) so I got a picture of my electric stunter.  It still has no name, but some club members have suggested some.  Most are too long, and I don't have that many vinyl letters in my collection.  I'm thinking DED SHORT.

How about some more suggestions?

Oh.  I added a picture, but it got buried in the original post "Electric Flight Video".

Now that is really nice, I like open cockpits. Great Video too.

You wanted to name it something short how about GFCI?

It's an electrical acronym for "Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter" No? Oh well just a thought. :)

John;  GFCI is pretty good for a name.  Trouble is, I would have to keep explaining it to those who don't know what it means (and that is almost everyone)
