Eflite motor decal
« on: May 02, 2013, 08:05:54 PM »
While out flying the other day I had to end my session because of what I thought was a bearing going bad. The Eflite 25 was very hot to the touch and when spun by hand it made a noise like something might be going in the motor. When I got home and looked in the motor compartment I saw that the decal had come off and puked all over the inside of the compartment and part of it was still attached and beating the crap out of the compartment. Now I'm wondering if the decals should be removed before any future planes get damaged. The motor was running happily along just warm to the touch before the sticker gave up sticking. Alot can happen from a decal spinning at 9700 rpm for 5 minutes.  :X

Hmmmmm, consider the opposite; that the decal came loose because the motor overheated because of _____?

I have a couple motors without stickers.  Kinda figured removing the sticker caused a performance improvment - comparable to putting chrome tipped tailpipes on the minivan!   :-[  :o  LL~

I had one of the E-flite stickers start to come loose on my first electric with an E-flite 25.  The sticker loosened due to the warm motor.  I figured it wouldn't be a good idea for it to come completely off in my motor compartment so I removed it.  Since I moved up to the E-flite 32 I routinely remove the stickers before using the motor.  I don't need any loose stuff in the motor bay.
