ECL Retracts, up up and away!
« on: March 12, 2008, 11:24:19 PM »
Hi Gang,

This has been talked about here before, but one of our FAI ECL flyers made an interesting post over on the "Stunt Design" section. We are hoping we can get a correction on his site address so we can see photos. His setup sounds great. .... Good post, worth a read.

Rudy,
I already made the correction, the right address is:

http://www.clacro.de/

then airplanes, then you choose the wanted model to look at.
I will be happy to give more infos if desired.

Hi Thierry,

I went to the link on Claus's site to see your ECL plane:

    http://www.clacro.de/Seite_saunier.htm

Your ECL plane is FANTASTIC! Your retracts are cool and make the plane look great in the air. I like your use of foam and stringers. ECL over here in the colonies is still relatively new. To my knowledge, we do not have any plans, or kits for ECL available over here. We are still converting wet planes to ECL. That may change soon.

Questions:

1. What is the wing area? So we can compare our wing loadings with your 67 oz plane.

2. How many mAh do you draw from your 3,700 mAh battery per flight?

3. What RPM are you turning?

Thank you for sharing your photos and all your info with us.

Regards,  H^^

Rudy,
Thanks for your positive comments. Both my E models are on the site.
The wing area is about 670 sq.inches on the Dewoitine  and close to 700 on the Morane "Epervier"
I turn the Axi with the 12,5 x 6 graupner Cam Prop at 9400 ground RPM and pulls 2800 to 3000 ma out of the pack for a 337s flight time.
The Morane is lighter at 65 oz.

Feel free to ask questions.
Thierry

Hi Thierry,

Thank you for your ans. Your wing loading of 14.4 oz/sq in tells me that my E P-40's 14.7 is in the ballpark. Will Moore's E-Twin Bomber flys great at 15.4. This is encouraging for those of us who are still converting wet designs to E power. (pls. see my wing loading post for more A/C)

BTW: Paul Walker's E Impact @ 12.3 does not count, he fills his planes with HELIUM!

Regards,  H^^
