Post by: MarcusCordeiro on December 24, 2014, 11:16:30 AM
As this will be my first eletric ship, thought I could join you guys here.... About time...
Maybe I should add a plywood gusset to the mount/fuselage joint??

Marcus

P.S.  Thanks Bob!!!

Looking forward to watching you build the e-Stiletto.  I plan to build the full body .35 version in electric once I get the Cardinal off the workbench.

Hi Marcus,
I use very little hard and lite plywood on my E models. The weight adds up quick and the electric motor is'nt trying to vibrate the ship apart while it's running. If I use ply doublers I use 1/64th.Carbon fiber and glass is my preffered material for reinforcement.Trax

Marcus, aren't you supposed to be out flying instead of building?   The build looks great as usual.

Great looking wing, Marcus!  Is this the 660 version or the .35 size?

My son wants to build the ".35 size" but it will probably be IC powered.  We have a M+P kit courtesy of Ty Marcucci.

Good luck with building and flying!

John

The field is closed due to the storms that have hit São Paulo... :(

It's the 660.... Thanks Bill!
I'll have more soon.. The stab/elev is ready for covering and the wing needs just some fine sanding.

Well I hope the storms subside.   The build is looking great.   Would you believe it was 60+F degrees here in January in Kansas.   Got out and tried to start the engine on the Canard.   Had to remove it from the airplane and get it loosened up.   Started second flip of prop and held needle setting until that last drop of fuel.   Didn't even warn me it was running out of fuel.   Then I start getting calls from grand kids needing rides.  Finally made it to the circle that someone thinks is a dune buggy area.   Did not fly as when I tried to open the door the wind kept blowing it shut.   So I just came home and the wife took me to see the Hobbit-  War of Five Armies.  I even managed to stay awake.

Yesterday I was at my friend Rogerio Fiorotti's shop.
We did some trick stuff there so I can go on and complete this build.
And as we had a bet on a soccer game, I also enjoyed a six-pack on him...
One couldn't ask for a better evening, can they???
Looking forward to doing business again Rogério, anytime...

Great build Marcus.  I see you are using the E Flite 32.  What is the expected finished weight of the plane?

I am going to build the full body .35 original version of the Stiletto and everyone says use the .15 E Flite.

I am going to have a weight estimate later on...
The deal with the 32 is that i already had it... i think this could go with The EFlite 25, so if the 32 is too much, i'll just switch to the other motor...
It is so exciting, i have no idea where this is going... LOL...I've been watching Windy's vídeos too much I guess...

I've been able to finally weight the ship.
What you see: 29oz...
Maybe 55oz final weight??
There's a little warp on the stab.. Will work on it.

Awesome build!
From what I can tell, the Eflite Power 25 is only 10g lighter than the Power 32. Will you be using a 4S pack or 5S? Seems like sometimes the slightly heavier motors are more efficient, so more economical on amps, depending on what prop is being swung.

Is this the Stiletto with 660 sq inch wing?
I have the plans for the 660 (full body) and would love to build an electric version, after doing some ARF's and kits. Its a sexy looking plane, indeed!

Hurry and build some more so I can see pics, would you please? LOL.
Looks great!

Chris

Thanks guys..
The thing is that I've moved andhaven't gotten the new shop working yet...
It'll take a few more days....
Igor's package includes a 6s baterry.. I still have to check with him if I need to change anything..
Remember, Marcus is naive about eletrics, so evry word of advice is welcomed...
Oh, 2 weeks with no flying at all... I'm gonna lose it...LOL

Here's the progress... I got a little sidetracked, but now I hope to finish this soon...
I've changed the set up:
EFlite 32
Castle 75 ESC
5S battery
Timer by my friend Fioroti
Igor's prop

The sanding is basically finished, and Carbon Veil is the next... Wing/stab/elev will be monokoted...

I have the feeling that I don't know what I am doing... LL~ LL~...

Thanks for asking.. I had to put it on hold for a few days since I was working on some Ringmastes for the Fly-A-Thon..
And as I will monokote the wing/tail, and am not so good at it, I'll take it to my friend Fred Cesquim's shop for some help..
A few more weeks.. Can't wait to fly this ship...

Sounds good, Marcus.
I actually like to cover with film, and, of my rc sailplane flying buddies, I'm close to the top of the heap. But I think here I may be more mid level.
I casually looked at the plans last weekend for the stiletto 660....such a pretty shape. One of these days.

Marcus,

Thought I'd drop in!

Actually Rich "Peabody" has a Stilleto kit for sale in the Classifides, Yes, I'm tempted.

You came to mind immediately because I remembered your great "E" Stilleto Build.

I was going to ask about eight or nine questions, but it looks like you haven't progressed with it?

Understandable with your scale project and all.

Be well!

Chris,

Congratulations!  H^^

I always liked the lines of the Stiletto. A beautifully designed model. Looks like it's moving even at static.

Clean lines, nice scheme. I have the correct graphics for it!  H^^ Hats off to me, the only way I get it actually.  LL~

Marcus did a great job so far with his Stiletto.

I do hope you do a build with yours.

I hope Marcus gets back on this build, but I think he might have good reason to be distracted for a while with his new Max Bee...
If I get a new computer, then I might do a build thread. As it is, I have a hard time posting pics from my phone.
I'll ping you later for graphics for my mini Stuka and the Stiletto.

Guys

I'll be back at the Stilleto pretty soon...
Work has been killing my building time...
But no biggie... I should work on it this week... And besides Fred has been busy with the ThunderGazer he's building for another friend, and I won't cover this baby unless he helps me....LOL... And I'll go for ink on this ship, so, remember, one does not rush art....LOL
And as my country's economy has gone sour, and the dólar rate has doubled recently, batteries and stuff have gone up pretty bad...
So, I have been buying the stuff slowly... Need the batteries for it...
I have thought of using the same color on the Stilleto as I used on my Joker Ringmaster and red for the covering... With some stripesand checkered decals, may turn out nice.
This ship will use accelerometer, which is something very nice to play with,,,,

Somehow I missed this thread but now that I'm here I want to congratulate Marcus on this most excellent project.
I am excited that Marcus will be using one of Igors' power systems and I certainly hope Senior Burger will be able to assist Marcus with, what seems to me, a very "sophisticated" speed control.
I will anxiously await the first flights and I thank you Marcus for choosing to build a Stiletto.

move the CG forward,, I would suspect to be consistant with other electric conversions somewhere 3/4" to an inch forward

Control drag is the usual culprit.  Rub against a rib or foam, rub from angled lead out guides and anything else that causes a bind.

A lot here

Well, I have News...
been flying the ship a lot and though there's still very little hunting, what solved the problem was a wider handle...
I noticed that I was struggling with the corners and here was no corner at all..... so i changed the handle to a hardpoint one and voilá... I got a new ship.
Also, Fiorotti made me a custom timer to fit the profile fuselage and with the Jettibox conector life has become very easy...
I couldn't be happier..... A few pics of recente action...
