Title: E-finity
Post by: Darkstar1 on July 27, 2010, 07:16:53 PM
Here's a few pics of my 3rd conversion 2 date. This is Ryans other Infinity That didn't make it to Hungary. The motor is another Rimfire .32-800 (I want to use 18v lipos.) The same Ice 50 esc that survived the crash at Muncie another FM-2a timer from the bench (Replaced microprocessor & resistor.) The conversion itself was pretty straight foward. the one thing I did different this time was 2 put the timer on the top block instead of the hatch cause I only have to adjust the RPM. Once that's set I should'nt have to touch it again. Well we'll see how it goes this weekend I can leave from my new job and go straight to the field which is now 15 miles away instead of 40. Now lets see if I can remember to make sure up is up and down is down before I release the plane  LL~

Hi Darrel,
I had a conversation with you at the L-Pad about ECL when we were at the nats.I have a Sig Magnum that is already built that I would like to convert. When you did this one did you just cut out the hardwood motor mounts and the tank compartment and install the ply firewall??If so will it retain enough strength and stiffness without adding fiberglass or carbon fiber to absorb the torque??Still workin' on my E-ducation.Thanx,Jeff Traxler AMA24950

On All the regular conversions I've done so far I've used 1/8 or 3/16 ply (this one was 3/16) once that firewall is fitted I add liberal amounts of CA first thin then thick and so far no I'll effects. As a matter of fact I've just flown it this morning. It flies around 5.2-5.3 laps need 2 slow it down a bit with a 5 cell battery It pulls like a freight train. I plan on getting to basic trim and then giving it back to Bill & Ryan and letting them trim it to their liking.

Darrell,
Here is a link to the spinner I was using at the nats.  The 45mm spinner is close enough to be a 1 3/4" replacement.  They also have a 51mm which would be a fit for a 2" spinner.
