Title: Do batteries need "Running-in"

Do new batteries get better after a few cycles?
I compared an older 25c battery against a new 65c battery and the new battery needed 200mah over the old battery when charged.
Yes, the wind was the same and I did the pattern both times.
Both batteries are 3300mah and by the same company. Just the C rating was changed.
I was just wondering if the new battery will end up using similar (or less) mah than the 25c battery.

Yes, Russell.
The batteries want a break-in, and after they have been stored for a long time (more than a month maybe) they benefit from a baby version of the break-in. A short flight of maybe 3 minutes or less than half capacity would do.
The 65C battery will hold voltage better, so for governed RPM which consumes the same energy for a schedule, the current and total capacity used will be less.
The 65C battery should need less charge, but the break-in is another variable.
Comparisons like this should be done after the pack has at least a half dozen flights on it.
