Is there a practical difference on a Lipo charger between "Discharge" and "Storage"?  On my charger "discharge" will quickly drain the battery but you have to watch it to make sure you don't go too low.  Storage is safe and leaves the battery around 40% but it takes several hours.  What if I use discharge to quickly run the battery down then put it on storage to balance it at the right voltage?  FYI I have a C240 Duo Charger from, where else, China.

I looked at the specs for that charger.  The discharge rate is limited by the ability to dissipate heat.  It should be at about the same rate for "discharge" or storage.  "Storage" may slow down at the end to avoid overshoot or undershoot of discharge amount.  You can fast discharge and then recharge to storage, I think what you are asking.  Storage is safe in the 40% to 60% range.  I set my charger to charge to 3.9v and that leaves me close to 56%, so less to charge for the next flying session.  Not all chargers allow you to set charge voltage cutoff, so that may not help you.

You can greatly speed the process by looking at this thread.  The last post has details for dischargers that are fairly quick and efficient and can save a lot of time.  Batteries culd be parallel discharged so that you do not have to do them one at a time.  The parallel discharge time would not be shorter but would not require user input for each pack.  It will shut off at the desired cutoff.

Discharge =DISCHARGE to a preset level of voltage, ie 3.85V/cell.  Usually starts with a fully charged battery that needs to be discharged DOWN to 3.85V/cell.
Storage = CHARGE to a preset level of voltage, ie 3.85V/cell. Usually starts with a fully discharged battery that needs to be  charged UP to 3.85V/cell.

Can you set limits in the discharge mode or does it just drain it all the way down no matter what.

On my charger I can set limits for cut off of discharge or charge, but not while in "storage" mode.  If you meant the dischargers above, user defined cut off voltage as far as I can tell, then auto shut off.  On the ISDT it looks the cut off voltage is from 3.3v - 3.8v.  My preference might be a bit higher, so a higher percent of charge left, but it will work.
