DC plugs..NOT directly model related...
« on: December 29, 2012, 10:08:36 AM »
Hello all. Finally got my new trailer. But I have a question. I want to charge a 12 volt battery from a 40 watt solar panel.
I'm wanting to be able to used one of the plastic battery boxed to mount a charge controller and be able to connect the set up to my battery (12 volt car type) when I need to for charging.
What would you suggest as a simple connector to use for 12 volts/5-10 amps max ? I'd like to not use them cigarette lighter style connections.
I am asking here because I believe that electric airplanes are similar in voltages and watts for my needs.
Thanks in advance Jim Gilmore aka ebonbetta

Anderson Power Poles.  Simple, easy to set-up and durable.  THe most popular are the 30A capacity which should be plenty for what you describe, but they make larger higher capacity units too.

You should be able to Google a local source pretty easy.  Some LHS still carry them but they have fallen out of favor for modeling over the past several years...
