Pardon the title, but I'm stoked about this one folks!
This is the Typhoon profile with the electrikery (thanks Howard) enclosed within the traditional profile fuse. The battery is in the chin scoop and the motor is wider than the fuse - everything else is out of sight. The fuselage is a traditional 1/2" thick plank with 1/16" ply doublers up front - actually narrower than a Ringmaster. As shown in the earlier post, the wing is also removable for transport.
Now someone raise the bar a little more.

thats COOL.. one too many invasion stripes - but still COOL S?P S?P S?P S?P
-
Thats stone cold beautiful....not enough invasion stripes though! LOL Seriousely though, Isn't it a bit nose heavy with the battery way up front like that? I thought the battery needed to be closer to the wing. And actually, I know nothing about electrics other than I know I will be going that route one day. H^^

Wynn:
Prior to D-Day, soon after their debut, Typhoons had their own stripes meant to deter freindly fire. Seems the pug-nosed Typhoon was easily mistaken for the FW-190 by nervous gunners on the ground. Yep two extra black stripes.
Another scheme that was tried was painting the nose and spinners white - but Typhoon pilots complained that it gave the FW-190 drivers an edge in identifying them in the air.
Come D-Day everyone (including the Tiffie) had the familiar 3-white and 2 black pattern around the wing and under the fuse...
Glenn:
Balance looks pretty good, only ONE way to find out for sure though...

Dennis,
Ya done good! BW@ BW@

This one needs to be added to Brodaks Warbird series for us kit builders. Let us know how it flies.

"Stone cold beautiful" is a total understatement! REALLY NICE, Dennis. I really like this. (I feel like I need to gather up my electric projects and jump up and down on them. They are so inadequate!) We're going to hold you to a flight report.
-
The profile electric installs are getting cleaner every month. "Cool" idea for the battery mount!
-
Very nice!
-
I like it Dennis, very very nice.
-
Hey Dennis,
That turned out really SWEET!!!!Are you going to bring it to the Signal Seekers in Detroit next month? It is a cool profile but I still like the ones like Jenny McCarthy has.....you know......with lots of Boobage LL~ LL~
Jeff

Dennis, that is way too awesome. H^^

Way to go man ! We should get a flight report by this week end, No ? ;D
-
In addition to waiting until I fly good enough to switch to electric without scraping a bunch of $$ away on the pavement at Delta Park, I've also been waiting for someone to show us all an easy way to make a nice looking profile.
It looks like the wait is over...
-
Wow, THANKS for all the kind words folks. My current (lack of ) employment has made it easy to catch up on a lot of building projects, but flying has been a problem. I still hope to make the Signal Seekers Meet & FCM but all is in limbo.... Flight report will come hopefully very soon.
-
Well Denny it is simply great! Look forward to hearing how it flys.

Dennis: I just got an electric motor, and up 'til now was wondering what to put it in!
Great idea, using the Tiffie's chin scoop. This airplane looks good from every angle!
How would it look if the invasion stripes were done in a chromatic mode? Like...Piano keys.

The Typhoon man is back!!!
-
Dennis,
Really awesome ship. Could you post some pic's of how the wing is attached for removal and how the battery is secured. Also the guts - motor, battery, prop, dry and loaded weight, etc.
Best, DennisT

Hi Dennis T
THANKS for kind words. I have been trying to make all the new birds with the wings removable, wo I don't have to ave minivan to haul them!
I have been using the same basic scheme on full fuse and profiles. The belly pan in permanently attached to the wing. It has bolts to the fueslage ahead of and behind the ing. Then there is one more bolt though the bellcrank (mounted on a thick wall tube) and into a blind nut in the fuselage. Doing it this way lets the wing reinforce the fuselage, secures the bellcrank to the fuselage and prevents any fuselage rocking side to side - especially on the profile. See pix.
I still have to fabricate the battery retainer. Basically I have to keep it from falling forward out of the box, so I think I will use a spring pin latch that installs in the scoop ahead of the battery.

Dennis,
Are these pics from your earlier Tiffie build, the one that made its diva appearance in the earliest posts of this thread? Or, are they pics from another, build? And, have you built some kind of fixture or jig for building the belly pan and attaching it to the wing? That seems to me to be the lynch pin for getting things properly aligned. I like the thru-wing belcrank mount idea.
Thanks,
Jim Howell
