Cool looking model by StevensAero. RingRat
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:59:13 PM »
I saw this on another forum and decided it looked way too cool not to be mentioned here.

100 square inches of area and runs a 2S pack. Looks like it was inspired by a Ringmaster.

Yep, Sure looks like a Ringmaster "knock off" to me. Reasonable kit price and then you have another $100 + worth of power system to make it fly (to say nothing of charger and power supply). Still it is good to see "turn key" electric control line expanding. It should fly reasonably well.

I just today received a prototype Baby Ringmaster kit (Sterling S13) from Pat King. Beautiful plans and laser cut parts with quality balsa. I intend to build it as an electric and will give an update when I have it finished. The Baby has a built up wing and the usual Ringmaster profile fuselage. Span is 21 inches so it is comparable to this RingRat.

It does favor the Kingpin some especially when you consider the scallop trim on the wing!

John, I would like to find out more about this kit from Pat King. Will you be doing a build thread For yours?

I note that Pat has an entry in the classifieds down below and on SSW for this Baby Ringmaster kit.

Looks like Stevens is adding a little combat model, too.

The Scram's wing looks like it is the same one used for the RingRat. I might have to get one of these to fly
lunchtime at work!

Robert,

I have a building thread over on the Brotherhood of the Ring forum (www.brotherhoodofthering.info). It is a work in progress and when I have it finished I'll post at least the "high lights" over here. Pat has sold a dozen of the Baby Ringmaster kits (patdk@aol.com) and he tells me that he has ordered more of the laser cut parts for additional kits.

Sorry to hijack the Ring Rat thread.  ::)

We built on the same profile but modified the airfoil and portions of the construction to better suit the purpose of the design.  If you've built a RingRat this wing is similar with a few enhancements.
