On Off No Off
« on: August 04, 2016, 11:53:43 AM »
Hubin timer FM9v, external push button with CC edge light 50 esc.

Found this out during ground crew safety drill.

Push the button and get the warning spin for 30 sec count down. Push the button again at 20 sec and motor still starts as normal at 30 sec. Button does not stop the count down. After 30 sec as the motor is running push the button and motor stops. Is this normal?

Any time arming plug is in, hang on to plane which is what saved the day.

Thanks,
MM

Hanging onto the plane any time the battery is connected is in the rules.  That's why.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

On all the timers I use, the only way to really RESET everything is to disconnect the battery (or pull the arming plug)

No it's not normal. Time to replace intermittent normally open button switch.

It's a new switch and it seems to work consistently. Does yours stop the count down?

mine does instantly.  I would check the new switch with a multi meter.

I have 4 Hubin FM9 timers and they all do the same thing. I don't think you guys are reading the OP.

Ground crew has been re-trained to wait until prop is turning to shut it off with the start button because, it won't shut it off before then.

When I push the button it stops the countdown, it will also stop the motor if it is already running. Maybe your ground crew isn't hitting the button all the way? 4 timers is unusual to have the same issue(but not impossibe). I would check the buttons and if no problems check the ground crew.

I have an electric test stand for breaking in batteries and I tested each one myself several times. It's not operator error.

O.k,   I misread the part the button was pushed before the start up.   as I just tested it, and it does not stop it from starting.  But any time after the start up it will.   So I assumed it is normal.

I put my system to the testnand found it wil only stop the motor when it is running, not when it is in the timer starting sequence.
