CL specific Schulze ESC
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:21:36 AM »
Hi

I have noticed that Schulze have a F2B specific ESC. What are the special features of that ESC?

Andreas:

I think Mike Palko, Paul Walker and Kim Doherty are all flying the Shulze - I personally do not know who else is using it.  Of these three, Mike is the only one I am aware of that has experience with both the Phoenix and the Schulze, so he might be able to give you a direct comparison.

The only comments I remember seeing (from Kim D?) is that the Schulze F2B controller is equipped with a special large heat sink to dissapate the heat caused by our extended part-throttle (and high heat) operations.  Castle-Phoenix seems to run cooler naturally, either by design and/or by excellent component selection.  Shulze also beat Castle to the market with the ability to simultaneously program the brake and the governor, however Castle has that ability now.

If these folks do not respond here you might try a personal message to any or all of them though the Stunt Hanger PM application.

Hi Andreas,
From memory the Schulze Future 18.46K F2B ESC offers a narrowed RPM range to give you a very fine adjustment. It also allows the use of a prop break while in governor mode and supposedly it has a superior governor over many other ESC's. I don't know that I have noticed a better governing of speed, but I have nothing to complain about so far.

Thanks for your answers. I was just curious what was special with the F2B ESC. I will use a CC phoenix ESC as I'm used to their producs.

Andreas,

The Schulze 18.46K F2B ESC was developed by Schulze and myself.

Schulze ESC's have the best Governor mode of ANY esc on the market. Governor mode is not just a generic feature with common implementation in all esc's. It is rather more of a black art and the particular methods used to achieve this performance are not for public discussion.

We modified all aspects of the esc's programming to optimize it for C/l flying. This goes beyond the regular set of user defined parameters in other esc's (CC) to include advanced filtering that provides for extremely steady rpm control. The Schulze 18.46k F2B ESC is capable of resolving rpm in blocks of approx. 20 rpm increments.

As Mike stated above it also enables "Brake" mode to stop the propeller at the end of the flight. The heat sink is there to ensure that you do not suffer a thermally induced shutdown.

At this time there is no better c/l esc on the market.

Note: I receive absolutley nothing from Schulze for speaking about their product. If it was not the best available I would not use it and neither I suspect would Paul.

Kim.
