Greetings everyone:

Before I get to the main reason for writing this, I would like to mention it is great to have a forum like this where people share ideas, techniques, and get answers to questions.  There were many times when I read an article and was going to write a response but someone had answered it already.  I guess that just means we are all on the same page.

Now for the reason I am writing this. I wanted to call your attention to the fact that in the Jan-Feb issue of "Stunt News" Will DeMauro and I are the co-authors of the article under the E-Stunt column.

The reason we wrote this was to share with you the results we came up with by using various types of chargers and LiPo batteries and thought it might be helpful. Especially to the people who are just getting started in ECL.

Will wrote about how important it is to have, what we call, a high end charger. He also included pictures of types of chargers we have used and are using at the present time.

I wrote about the care of LiPo batteries and a program we have developed, and are using, to improve their longevity.

Will and I hope you find the article interesting and informative reading.

Thank you,

Ron

Excellent article, Ron! I found it very informative and was pleased that it validated many of my own experiences. It did, however, cost me a couple hundred bucks for new charging gear. I have already recommended it to several others. Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Before I wrote the article, I purchased a Thunder Power charger and (2) para boards to replace what I was using. The picture of it is in the article. It was well worth the money. There is no comparison between the two. As I said in the article, now I can charge (4) batteries 15 minutes before I go to our flying site and put them in storage mode when I come back.

Since you now have a high end charger, I would recommend trying my program to keep stats on your batteries. You will be surprised all the data that can be retrieved by doing that. I use Excel spreadsheets on my PC to keep records on the use of my batteries and motors (by counts and percentages) because I like to know whether or not I got my monies worth out of them and when I feel it is time to change the bearings in the motors based upon the number of flights.

If you are familiar with Excel, and would like to do the same thing, let me know and I'll tell you how to set it up and send you a sample.

Ron
